BRIGANDINE ABYSS Quests and Training

Materials, level-20 items, and why mercenaries exist to die on errands.

Quests and Training

Organization is where BRIGANDINE ABYSS actually happens. Invasion is the exam. Quests and training are how you get materials, class-change items at level 20, and the extra gear Niffrom’s Market will not stock until you have found it. They are also how you strip a castle of its only leader the season before an Event Battle. This page is the staffing guide: who goes on the errand, who stays home, and why mercenaries are the correct people to perish forever.

Base ranks that unlock better quest boards are on Base Building. Promotion trees are on the Class System page. Combat after the errand is Combat Tips. Do not send Largo or Garnet to fetch ore because a tooltip said the reward was rare.

What quests are for

RPG Site’s launch review is the mechanical truth: assign a leader to a quest, get materials you cannot buy yet, and accept that that leader cannot participate in combat. The keep they would have defended is thinner. If every named officer is on a fetch, a rival’s Attack declaration is a free castle.

Quest output scales with the stronghold’s rank. That is why you upgrade a core instead of running the same rank-1 board on twelve empty flags. Materials feed further upgrades and crafts. Class-change items for the level 20 promotion come through this board and through training-style expeditions—not through a hidden Arena DLC. Faction leaders can class-change without the special item. Everyone else waits on the drop, then can often buy the item later from Niffrom’s Market once it has entered the catalog.

There is no daily-reset chore list. There is a season. If you skip the board for ten seasons, NPC nations still promote. RPGamer noted enemies do not lack the items you are still hunting. That gap is how mid-campaign Invasions start to feel like brick walls.

Training is not optional flavor

Training is how you close level gaps without turning every Invasion into an XP farm on empty hexes. Story Mode will still force Event Battles on a calendar. Those fights can restrict which knights you may deploy. A story officer who is three levels behind because they sat in a castle doing nothing is a game-over risk. A story officer who is three levels behind because they were on a material quest is the same risk with extra irony.

Use training on named leaders who must survive Event Battles. Use quests on people whose death is acceptable. When an Event Battle season is close, pull the story cast off both tracks and stage them as three Invasion squads. The Campaign Walkthrough is the calendar warning; this page is the roster math.

Monster class upgrades also happen in this layer. They raise Command Point costs. A trained monster may no longer fit next to its friends. Plan the retinue before you celebrate the promotion. Monster Summoning covers the CP side.

Mercenaries are quest fodder

Mercenaries can be hired with money. When they fall in combat, they are gone. Story-relevant knights are not. That split is the Organization design. RPGamer called it out directly: mercenaries are perfect quest fodder while plot knights gain levels and acclaim.

Put mercenaries on long material runs, low-rank busywork, and sacrificial garrisons you are willing to lose. Put story knights on training toward 10 and 20, Invasion, and Event Battles. Resurrection items restock and are cheaper than they were in Legend of Runersia, but that generosity applies to people who can be revived. A dead mercenary does not come back. Do not learn that lesson on Garnet.

Hire enough mercenaries that quests and defense can happen in the same season. Three named leaders cannot quest, train, defend two keeps, and invade. The Getting Started cap is still three squads in a fight—not three humans in the whole country.

Niffrom’s Market and the unlock loop

Niffrom’s Market is the Organization shop. Buy resurrection stock, gear, and later the class items and materials you have already discovered. Demo Ver 1.01 let you buy usable gear from the equip screen; retail PC includes that quality-of-life. The market does not replace quests. It converts a first drop into a repeatable purchase. If you never quest, you never unlock the shelf.

Spend after you know which three squads you are fielding. Buying a fourth shiny weapon for a mercenary who is about to die on a fetch is how money disappears while the home castle stays rank 1.

Sequencing a season

  1. Note Event Battle proximity and locked borders.
  2. Assign mercenaries to the material and item quests the ranked keeps offer.
  3. Assign story officers to training if they are behind, or to staging hexes if a fight is coming.
  4. Move only the squads you intend to invade or defend with—Organization movement is a season lock, covered on the base page.
  5. Invade with Command Point lineups that still have Rally batteries. A lizard on a quest cannot extra-action your leader.

If the quest list is longer than your mercenary bench, leave quests on the table. A missed ore node is recoverable. A missed Event Battle is not.

What this is not

This is not an experience-farm route through dummy maps. Empty Invasions are already why some reviews bounced off Story Mode. Do not add a grind loop the game did not ship. Train, quest, buy, fight. Watch official channels if a post-launch patch tweaks drop rates; do not wait on a fictional 1.1 notes page before you send a hireling to get the level 20 item.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about BRIGANDINE ABYSS.

Why can't my best knight join the Invasion?

Leaders assigned to quests cannot fight that season. Pull them off the board before Attack declarations if you need them in combat or to defend a keep.

Where do level 20 class-change items come from?

Quests and training-style expeditions, then often Niffrom's Market after the first find. Faction leaders can promote without the item. Most other units cannot.

Who should I send on quests?

Mercenaries. They perish forever in combat, which makes them the correct people to occupy the quest slot while named story knights train, defend, and Invasion.

Can I skip training if I fight a lot?

You can, and you will arrive at Event Battles under-leveled while NPC nations kept promoting. Train story officers; do not use empty Invasions as your only school.
